Coaching Like A Leader!

As a Certified Registered Corporate Business Coach (WABC), when I talk to leaders about Coaching I emphasize the point that Coaching is not about “Telling”, coaching is about “asking”. Asking questions to get to the heart of the issue or matter; it is the essence of coaching. You will have to remember that if a person is not ready to be coached, coaching will and can’t happen. There is a process for coaching. Here are some steps: 1. Set the stage by creating an environment whereas the person understands you are there for them…they will trust you. 2. Open with a positive intent. 3. Understand the situation or goal to be discussed. 4. Agree on the situation or goal. 5. Acknowledge a plan of action following a brainstorming opportunity and seek alternatives. 6. Select the appropriate resolution for the best solution process and outcome.
7. Revisit an action plan for successful collaboration and continued dialogue.
